In honor of ACL 2010...

I've photographed every year of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, except the very first year. I'll be photographing it again this year. In honor of the starting day of ACL Fest 2010, I thought I'd share a random sampling of previous ACL photos. They are all mixed up and in no particular order... see if you can identify all the artists. Even better yet, try to identify the artist AND the year of their performance!!!

When the studio is empty...

Tuesday was slow for me. I had talked with a couple clients and booked a couple upcoming shoots, but nothing was really happening in the studio. So, what do I do?!? Baby picture day!!!!! My friend came over with his babies and I brought my little boys in. We took some pictures and had some fun. Here are a couple pics from the afternoon...

OK, so baby pictures may not exactly help support my rock and roll photographer image, but I can't help it. I love my boys and we had a blast using the studio on an otherwise empty studio day.

Event pics are big in Dallas...

Sure, a lot of people know me for the cover photos I've done for publications like Quick and American Profile. They've seen the major label album covers I've shot or the musicians I've photographed for Spin Magazine or The Dallas Morning News. However, I don't think many people realize just how much event photography is shot in Dallas. I do a ton of it, and I am only one of many here in North Texas that can keep pretty busy shooting this stuff.

Call it what you want - party pics, event photos, fete set shots, etc... People love seeing the fashionable and famous out and about. Companies need their important events recorded on film. Charities want photos of their galas and balls. Corporate sponsors want to use pics from the parties they throw for their internal and external marketing. If you can shoot a party well, you can keep busy in DFW!

These tear sheets came from a recent issue of FD Luxe - a hot North Texas fashion/style magazine.
